Very excited about this one. Hoping it can make it here for around 1300-1500 AUD.
Comkid says
@Mike, it should be only $1099 😀
Tablet PC says
Comkid, we’d hope that it will be that low, but no guarantees at this stage. Official AU pricing is not yet announced.
Rusty says
I’m interestred in getting one of these as well. AU pricing will be VERY INTERESTING INDEED, given the the current exchange rate!! As near as I can tell, US pricing is confirmed as $999 for 2gb\32GbSSD and $1099 for 4Gb\64Gb SSD models.
If the EP121 sells locally for $1500 to $2000 or more (as is likely), then as usuall local suppliers are ripping us off and as usuall I (and most others I suspect) will go off-shore to make my purchase.
Will be keeping a very close eye on this.
Tablet PC says
Rusty, I highly doubt it would be that high. Still waiting on official pricing.
Besides why would you buy from any one else but Tablet PC experts?
Jen says
Do you have any information on when this will be available in Australia?
Rusty says
Mate, I hope your right. After my Motion LE1600 died mid last year I’ve been waiting for a good “new” replacement to actually be released, not just talked about.
I was just about to buy a reburbished Motion again (still the best slate tablet released to market IMHO) as I used it daily for note taking, planning and presentations. I really like the look of the Asus and am trying hard to maintain patience.
Cheers,
Craig says
Question: excuse my ignorance, but is this and other tablets – functional as Notebooks as well? I mean, can you install Word etc on it?
Tablet PC says
Craig, this is a windows PC with the full functionality of a laptop, plus the added capabilities of touch and active digitizer pen.
Tablet PC says
I’m currently hearing mid March. In discussions with ASUS on pricing too. Nothing finalised yet…
JC says
Can’t wait to replace my Fujitsu Tablet PC, Awesome.
Craig says
I now wonder if the new Samsung’s Sliding PC 7 Series might not be a better buy. What think thee?
Tablet PC says
Craig-Samsung PC-7 looks like a wonderful design… but… No pen = no dice!
My rule of thumb: If you want a touch screen play thing, get an ipad. If you want to be more efficient about the way you work, get a windows tablet with a pen!
Khari says
I’m really looking forward to this… I could see that this slate could potentially replace my desktop PC… mmmmmm… time to start saving up!
Tablet PC says
Picking one up tomorrow for testing!

So ASUS have announced AUD pricing at $1499 for the 64Gb. In the words of Darryl Kerrigen, “Tell him he’s dreamin.”
Where do they get off charging an extra 500 bucks!! The exchange rate has been at close to parity for freaking ages, and will stay that way for some time yet. Shipping from the US to Aus for a 2kg package is $45 with USPS, although one could assume ASUS would get a bulk discount.
Yet again, Australian consumers are being asked to bend over an take a solid buggering.
Brett Gilbertson says
Very disappointed in ASUS. The local guys have zero to no interest in this product and they do not expect it to sell at all. It’s very hard to communicate to them how many disappointed customers we will have.
I’ve had a play the the product and it is exceptional. That said i’m recommending that customers look at the Motion CL900 or Fujitsu Q550 instead. At least those two companies ane likely to support tablets long term.
Rusty says
Yeah, but they are both only 10″ displays. I use(ed) my slate for inking and prefer the 12.1″. It’s also handy to have a bigger screen for apps like MindMapper.
Brett Gilbertson says
True.
Negatives of the EP121 – Glossy screen, No 3G, 3 hour battery life, battery not removable / replaceable, weight, no docking options, Cheap Wacom pen with no right click button, lack of interest from ASUS Australia.
Positives – 12″ IPS Screen, Gorilla Glass, Core i5, Wacom Pen, Runs fast, Finished beatifully.
Tough choice – I’ll be sticking with the Motion J3500 and CL900 combo…
PHAT BOY says
Brett,
I want/need mobility and long battery life – want to run navisworks and other programs on a small form factor for demos etc – really need a 64 bit OS as these cad styled programs run much better.
Getting very grumpy with the lack of progress for local pricing on the EEE tablet – can you provide a unit?
Also looked through your posts and see a reference to the Fujitsu q550 – i like the manufacturer and the unit is cheaper with double + battery life – problem 32bit and only 2 gig ram – what should i do?
Is the EP121 worth the $?
