Around this time last year the Motion Computing CL900 was flying of the shelves here in Australia. Last week Motion announced its new model, the CL910 rugged slate Tablet PC.
The CL900 uncorked the demand for a lightweight ruggedized windows tablet and the inbuilt Intel Atom processor delivered on great battery life. Unfortunately for many customers that came at the price of performance.
For simple applications, the Intel Atom “Oak Trail” was fine and it did run Office 2010 surprisingly well. But for mobile road warriors, the Oak Trail did not cut it. The CL910 should go a long way to addressing this limitation.
The Motion CL910 now features the Intel Atom “Cedar Trail” processor, and as you can see below, it is a significant jump in performance!

So the new CL910 features the dual core, multi-threaded N2600 processor seen in the graphic (green line). The CL900 had the single core, multi-threaded Z670 processor (the light blue line).
As you can see by most measures, the Motion CL910 processor is double the performance of the CL900. We haven’t tested it yet, but these figures are a good start.
In addition, the CL910 has upgraded to DDR3 RAM, Sandisk SSD drives and Intel Wifi.
What we loved about the CL900 remains in the new CL910:
- Same lightweight, small form factor
- MIL810-G and IP52 rugged ratings
- Same great accessories, carry options and docking stations
- Relatively low price.
What is improved:
- Double the power – Major processor, RAM and disk upgrades
- Much better WiFi radio

G’day. Its cool to see more tablet PCs with GPS built in now. I’d love to see you do a head to head between the CL910 and the Series 7 Slate, As i’m unsure which one I’d prefer at this stage. It seems that you pay ALOT more for the samsung and that extra price is split between a more popular brand name and a slightly bigger screen. Does Samsung plan to add a GPS to their slate eventualy?
