The new Surface Headphones 2, are Microsoft’s shot at high end noise cancelling headphones. Priced at $399, they are undercutting the top end product of both SONY and BOSE. As Microsoft’s second attempt at headphones under the Surface brand they certainly come to the table with worthwhile improvements over the original Surface headphones.
We got version one of the Surface Headphones back when they released in late 2018. If you haven’t seen them before, they’re noise cancelling over ear headphones with the Surface Touch. They have these great side dials, and touch pads on either side for control. Cool tech, looked great, were well built, and they were good headphones.
You could adjust the noise cancelling level with this awesome dial on the left ear. You could even reverse the noise cancelling and enhance the ambient sound – putting the Surface headphones into eavesdropper mode!
But over the course of many plane flights, I found that I triggered a lot of accidental touches with those big touch surfaces. The noise cancelling was good, but wasn’t up to par with what I was used to with my trusty BOSE headphones, which have been with me on several trips around the world!
So… The Surface Headphones 2 are here. Equipped with a bigger battery, fast charging, new hinges, and improved noise cancelling.
