Another fantastic Windows 8 tablet with a Wacom Active Digitizer Pen hit our desk this week! It is the Fujitsu Stylistic Q584.
As I opened the un-branded box that it arrived it in the white edges of the Q584 made me think that someone was sending me a Samsung Galaxy Note. As a 10” tablet with white bezel and silver edges it can easily be mistaken. However, unlike the Galaxy Note the Stylistic Q584 fits firmly in the enterprise.
The Fujitsu Stylistic Q584 is powered by the impressive fourth generation Intel Atom “Bay Trail” chip. It is great for gameplay, document work and note-taking. Up to 4Gb of RAM and 128Gb SSDs are offered to make the Q584 a powerful companion device.
Like its big brother the Q704, the Q584 is also IP57 rated for water and dust resistance. Theoretically you could take the Q584 into the shower with you in the morning… hmmm.
Firstly there is a fingerprint reader built right into the back of the device. As many people are now discovering, these days fingerprint is a highly secure, quick and reliable compliment to your password for secure logins. Once you’ve had a fingerprint reader on your tablet, you won’t ever want to go back…
The Wacom pen fits perfectly into the side of the device, and although it is a small pen, it is more comfortable to use than the standard Lenovo and ASUS Wacom pen offerings.
There is an 8 megapixel camera built in – pretty standard on Windows 8 tablets now – but, this one includes an LED flash.
This is a sample shot using the standard Windows 8.1 camera app with the flash turned on. There is an impressive amount of detail in the image for a tablet camera.
The standard Windows 8 tablet buttons are flush mounted on the left hand side as well an audio in/out jack. The speakers are mounted to either side (when looking at the device in landscape) and are impressively loud for a tablet of this size.
Sealed port covers (required for the IP57 rating) hide an array of connections including microSD, 4G Sim Card, USB 3 and micro USB.
There is a docking connector – Fujitsu offer an inexpensive port replicator for the Q584 – and a pen tether point so that you don’t lose your pen!
There are a bunch of accessories including a docking keyboard, rugged case and shoulder strap yet to come for the Q584. We’ll bring you more once we have it!
